Our client are currently looking for a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer, or Associate level, to join their growing team. With over 25 years experience in the process, manufacturing & energy industries this is a great opportunity to join a team of industry leading experts.
Our client offers a complete design and consultancy service, developing solutions from concept through to detailed design.
Key aspects of the position:
To lead an established small team in delivering mainly building structure projects. The buildings are typically industrial in nature and usually have a complexity in their design such as blast, fire, toxic gas tight and/or seismic. Our client has a strong technical expertise already established and therefore requires someone to successfully manage the delivery process of a building.
There will also be the expectation of working on additional projects with other experienced engineers, therefore helping in the development of their specialist technical skills. The role involves taking on early responsibility for a workload that is challenging, fast paced and highly variable, including:
- Managing a team of engineers & technicians.
- Commercial management of projects such as:
- Scoping
- Pricing
- Programme/ delivery
- Resourcing
- Financial management and invoicing
- Commercial / contract management
- Liaising with stakeholders both internal and external.
- Involvement with other projects that include temporary works, bridge design and assessment, demolition pre-weakening, foundations etc. Technical support and training would be provided in areas where a skills gap is identified.
- Work with the Business Development and Marketing teams to develop new and existing business opportunities with clients.
- Manage, liaise and coordinate with 3rd party suppliers
Personal skills and experience:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with others.
- Experience & understanding of all stages during the design and construction process.
- Experience working on multi-disciplined projects ranging from £1M to £15M in value.
- Site visits, checking site conditions/remedying problems with contractors.
- Past experience of written technical reports to then present findings and offer recommendations.
- Successfully work to tight timescales whilst managing multiple projects at once.
- Previous experience in line-management and staff development & mentoring.
Qualifications:
- BEng, MEng or MSc qualified in Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer with either ICE or IStructE.
- Full UK driving licence is expected due to visiting client sites.
